For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do

Ephesians 2 v 10

We are all shaped by God to serve Him in some way. We want to help you discover your shape and where you fit in to God’s mission here at St Mary’s. There are lots of opportunities to find out. Try things out, see how they go. If it’s not you, try something else! Teams are a great way to meet others and they would love you to join in. Have a look through, click the button and someone will be in touch!

St Mary’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. Some of these roles (* starred below) will require people with particular qualities and appointments are subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Check. Please contact the relevant team leader for further details (or the Parish Safeguarding Officer here)

Kid’s Team*

Whether regular Sunday sessions or one off events, we’d love everyone to play their part in telling the next generation. There are all sorts of roles big and small. There are activities, like our toddler groups, which aim to serve our local community, and others which seek to grow mature disciples of Jesus Sunday by Sunday.

Youth Team*

Whether regular Sunday or midweek sessions or one off events, we’d love everyone to play their part in telling the next generation. You don’t need to be cool!

AV Team

As we gather to hear God’s Word each Sunday, we need to hear and see what we’re doing! Any technically minded people can be of huge service to the rest of us in this way. We have recently invested in new equipment and software to improve the smooth running of services both in church and online. However, we need more people to learn to operate them! It's all much easier than before and full training will be given.

Welcome Team

Welcome is fundamental to God’s mission. Every service has a welcome team to greet those who come, to make sure everyone feels at home, finds a seat and is served a drink.

Coffee Team

Sharing fellowship over coffee is an important part of our Sunday gatherings. If you would like to be part of this ministry which so helps to build up the body of Christ then do get in touch. We’d love to hear from you!

Music Ministry

As we gather each Sunday, our musicians help us to connect with God and encourage one another as we sing his praises. If you can sing or play anything, we’d love to hear from you!

Choir

On Friday evenings the choir meets at church to sing and socialise, praising the Lord and enjoying each other’s company.  We prepare for the 9.00 am service but also Songs of Praise, Choral Evensong, our amazing Lessons and Carols at Christmas and other special services throughout the year.  We’d love to have new members – not necessarily to sing every Sunday.  Reading music is helpful but not essential - in fact a sense of humour and a willingness to have a go is most important!

Pastoral Team*

As Christians we look after one another and our pastoral team helps us do that. We need people who can give lifts, cook meals, make hospital visits and all sorts of other practical tasks.

Cleaning Team

Cleanliness is next to godliness! Maybe not, but we’ve certainly learned a lot about washing our hands and keeping things clean lately! And the same is true of our church building, even more so at the moment. The cleaning team works on a rota of approx. 4/6 weeks with 3 or 4 volunteers serving together. We’d love to hear from you with whatever you could offer.

Gardening Team

Join this friendly bunch to tend the lovely public space which is St Mary’s churchyard. We meet on selected Saturday mornings throughout the season. There is always tea and biscuits and sometimes donuts too!
